How to prepare a tooth extraction
How to prepare a tooth extraction
If your teeth are healthy, they certainly don’t need to be pulled out, but if there are some serious problems with the teeth, they can’t be used anymore, and they will endanger other teeth, then it may be necessary to do tooth extraction. How long does it take for tooth extraction?
Tooth extraction generally takes about tens of minutes. For ordinary teeth, the process of tooth extraction is usually relatively fast, but some impacted teeth (wisdom teeth in the jaw below) buried in the gum are relatively complex.
For more complex tooth extraction operation, pain may appear after the anaesthesia is removed. According to Dr Jim, our mandible is relatively hard, the blood circulation is relatively low, the chance of postoperative wound swelling and pain is relatively large, and wound healing is relatively slow. It is suggested that this kind of patients take anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs after operation, which can greatly alleviate the pain after the disappearance of anesthetic.
After tooth extraction, there are also some problems that need attention. Although tooth extraction is a small operation, many patients are too careful. Even the cotton stick or strip that they bite after tooth extraction will always be in their mouth. Dr Jim believes that in fact, it is not correct to do so. After tooth extraction, cotton strips do not need to bite in the mouth for too long, you should spit it out about 40 minutes.
Extract wisdom teeth is not harmful to us. Some people say that extract wisdom teeth will affect people’s wisdom and memory, but there is no provement for this. Wisdom teeth are the teeth that grow slowly at the age of 18. At this age, people’s physical development is basically completed, and their intelligence is becoming more and more mature, so they are called wisdom teeth. The extraction of wisdom teeth has nothing to do with human intelligence and memory. Memory is related to brain, while inferior alveolar nerve is only peripheral nerve, and inferior alveolar nerve belongs to a branch of mandibular nerve. Even if the inferior alveolar nerve is injured, there will be no effect on the brain’s intelligence.
The diet after tooth extraction is also need more attention. Dr Jim reminds us that on the day of tooth extraction, warm and cold liquid food and semi liquid food should be your main foods, instead of hot and hard food. Here is the diet we can choose: thick rice soup, steamed egg soup, milk, yoghurt, fresh juice, various porridge, wonton, soft steamed food, fruit and vegetable soup, fish soup.
Although we don’t need to worry about extraction, there is no harm in knowing more about it. Knowing these knowledage, we can make a good preparation for extraction.
